About
We're part of a downtown network of gardens that is supporting our native pollinators. Our midweek volunteer sessions are smaller, allowing more focused work (great for those wanting to learn more about gardening). Your role: We'll start at our main garden then move to one of our "points" to plant, weed, mulch, seed collect and other tasks to keep our pollinator gardens growing (unless it rains where we'll work in the warehouse/main garden) The Five "Points" Community Garden has expanded beyond its core garden to create green and pollinator spaces around downtown. Organized by Five Points Farm. Tips: WEATHER - if heavy rain is in the forecast, an email will be sent that morning IF cancelled. Please check your email before coming. GETTING TO THE GARDEN: We're a block next to the Garnett MARTA station, and directly across the Greyhound Station in an old chain link fence parking lot. We don't have free parking inside or next to the garden, but you can park on Garnett St. SW for $2 an hour. CHECKING IN: Find your Hands On coordinator to check in on phone (and to check out). EVERYONE needs to check in for liability reasons (and we can add your or your guest if you don't show up in the listing). We’ve got work gloves if you didn't bring your own. Let me know if you've got gardening or construction experience - and/or you're with a group (so I can put you together on one project). COMMUNITY SERVICE: Make sure you show up on time and that you check in and out. Read community service for HANDs ON instructions at this link - https://www.handsonatlanta.org/mandatory-service - I'll report hours to Hands On and I can sign your paperwork at the end if you have it. END OF WORK SESSION: - If you planted/transplanted any plants, make sure they are watered - Return gloves to be
